A Note from Michael:

Hello, everyone!
The time is finally here!  (gulp!)
On Sunday, November 17th, 2002 at 3PM, the Adrian Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of maestro John Dodson, will present the world premiere of FRANKENSTEIN (the whole thing), with music written by my amazingly talented wife, Betsy, with words and lyrics by myself, and orchestrated by University of Michigan's Jerry DePuit (a professor of several of Broadway's finest).  Performing with us in our concert will be Cristin Mortenson, who played Christine in "Phantom" in San Francisco and more recently was in the Broadway company of "By Jeeves," and Douglas Webster, former member of both Broadway and touring companies of "Les Miserables" (even played Jean Valjean), as well as having performed the Celebrant for Leonard Bernstein's "MASS" for the composer, the Pope, and again at Carnegie Hall just two days following our concert!

What is "our" FRANKENSTEIN?  The concert version is just that -- structured like a musical vocally (some lines read, most sung), but without the "staging" of a play.  And with the grand music of a beautiful 50 piece orchestra!

No, the monster is not some dumb, grunting hulk.  He is the culmination of all the learning, experience and intelligence of his "parts"... just without memory.  He also isn't a face without a past: you learn who the spirit of the creature really is.  You meet him BEFORE his death and resurrection!  Dr. Frankenstein (Victor) KNOWS his raw material!!  And (like in Mary Shelley's original) the creature isn't evil, he is the ultimate victim of his circumstances (in fact, all the characters are).  He's a beautiful poet, made miserable by hideous disfigurement.

"Within this patchwork of flesh is more love than you will ever know, and more rage than you can comprehend.  If you do not satisfy the one, I will indulge the other!"

I hope you're intrigued.

We are SO very excited about this opportunity and the wonderful talent who will share the stage with us!  Please, if you can, join us for this concert!

Michael
